The European Heritage Label Bureau is delighted to announce the launch of its first Call for Projects as part of its EHL Community of Practice!

This marks the first time the European Commission is providing direct financial support to the Sites labeled European Heritage by the European Commission – an important milestone for our shared cultural heritage.

The EHL 2024 Call for Projects is now open exclusively for the 67 European Heritage Label Sites. This initiative focuses on several key priorities to foster a deeper connection to our European identity:
  • Enhancing youth engagement in cultural activities and European integration history
  • Developing Sites’ digital media capacities to reach wider audiences
  • Supporting EHL Sites in their transition towards sustainability in line with the green agenda
  • Promoting the European dimension of the Sites to encourage debate around European heritage and integration.

Each proposal should address at least one of these specific objectives:

  • Visibility: Increase the visibility of the EHL and EHL sites to a wider audience.
  • Networking: Create opportunities for exchanging information, best practices, and priorities between sites.
  • Capacity Development: Develop capacities in EHL sites to present their stories in a European context.
Eligible Activities

The call supports a range of activities matching the identified priorities and objectives, including:

  • Storytelling through novel communication methods, virtual and augmented reality tools
  • Touring exhibitions and performances
  • Social media activities and communication materials
  • Peer-to-peer initiatives and event organization
  • Training of trainers and joint training materials production
  • Joint collaboration with cultural heritage organizations

The overarching objective of this call is to strengthen European citizens’ sense of belonging to the EU through innovative initiatives and collaborative partnerships among EHL Sites. We look forward to receiving proposals that will not only preserve but also celebrate our rich European heritage in new and impactful ways.
