AI4Culture: Bridging Technology and Cultural Heritage

The AI4Culture project is a pioneering initiative designed to transform the cultural heritage sector through cutting-edge technological solutions.

The AI4Culture project is a pioneering initiative designed to transform the cultural heritage sector through cutting-edge technological solutions. This ambitious endeavor focuses on developing the ‘AI4Culture platform,’ an online capacity-building hub aimed at providing essential resources, tools, and training tailored specifically for cultural heritage institutions.

Comprehensive AI Resources

The AI4Culture platform will serve as a comprehensive repository of technologically advanced resources, including openly labeled datasets essential for training and testing various models. These resources will be indispensable for cultural heritage institutions seeking to integrate new technologies into their operations. Additionally, the platform will provide a range of deployable and reusable tools, alongside capacity-building materials specifically designed to address the unique needs of the cultural heritage sector.

Customizable Components

One of the unique aspects of the AI4Culture platform is its customizable components, which can be adapted for various applications within cultural heritage institutions.

These applications include:

  • Multilingual Text Recognition
  • Multilingual Subtitles Generation and Validation
  • Information Enrichment and Semantic Linking
  • Machine Translation for Metadata

All components of the AI4Culture platform will be designed to be interoperable with the common European data space for cultural heritage. This interoperability will not only facilitate data sharing and the reusability of cultural content but also strengthen the connection between the European data space and cultural heritage institutions across the continent.

The AI4Culture project is funded under the Digital Europe Programme (DIGITAL) of the European Union. The project is set to run for 27 months, bringing together a consortium of esteemed partners from across Europe.

The AI4Culture project is led by Ethnicon Metsovion Polytechnion from Greece. The consortium includes a diverse group of organizations.
