Amsterdam marks its heritage in 2025
“The Miracle of Amsterdam” Exhibition Extended
Due to overwhelming success, the acclaimed exhibition Miracle of Amsterdam at the EHL Site Our Lord in the Attic Museum has been extended. Visitors can continue to explore the story of the 1345 Eucharistic Miracle, a pivotal moment that shaped Amsterdam’s religious and cultural identity. The exhibition combines historical objects, narratives, and immersive experiences to show how this miracle influenced the city’s development and continues to resonate today.
Youth Manifesto buried at Dam Square
On 13 September 2025, the heart of Amsterdam beat with a special act of remembrance and hope: the Amsterdam 750 Time Capsule was buried at Dam Square, to be opened again in 2075. Among its contents is a manifesto created by the Voices Community of Our Lord in the Attic Museum, a group of young Amsterdammers guided by community manager and spoken word artist Farah Badloe.
Crafted as a small magazine (zine) and designed by interdisciplinary artist Maha Eljak, the manifesto conveys both hope and a warning: freedom and tolerance can never be taken for granted. The young voices reflect on their identities, their role in Amsterdam today, and the lessons they wish to pass on to future generations.
The capsule also includes contributions from poet Gershwin Bonevacia, a letter from Mayor Femke Halsema, and a film portrait by FC Centrum capturing Amsterdam in 2025. Together, these objects and words offer a vivid picture of the city’s present-day spirit for Amsterdammers 50 years from now.
