Call for Applications: Science Comes to Town
Culture Action Europe (CAE) invites its members to join a new initiative—Science Comes to Town—as part of a Horizon Europe call. This project, spearheaded by a consortium led by APRE, aims to develop and implement a dynamic year-long public engagement programme with science, taking place across European cities in 2026. They are currently seeking 12 vibrant cultural venues across Europe to collaborate in delivering a series of innovative and engaging activities.
The Science Comes to Town programme is designed to create meaningful and lasting connections between science and the public. Its goal is to bridge the gap between scientific research and everyday life, tackling pressing societal and environmental issues. The initiative will feature a diverse array of activities across several cities, with Genova, Kaunas, and Aarhus serving as the main hosts. These cities, all former European Capitals of Culture, will leverage their unique strengths and cultural resources to underscore the role of science in enhancing societal well-being, sustainability, and economic prosperity.
The Role of Cultural Satellites
The organisers are looking for cultural venues in European countries beyond the main hosting cities to become cultural satellites of the Science Comes to Town initiative. These venues will play a crucial role in extending the programme’s reach and impact by organizing citizen science activities throughout 2026.
How to Apply
CAE members, interested in participating, are encouraged to submit their applications until August 31st, detailing how they plan to engage their community with science through this initiative.
