Construction is officially underway at the Vučedol Archaeological Park following the signing of a contract with contractor MONTE-MONT d.o.o. The project, which will be supervised by RESPECT-ING d.o.o., marks a key step in developing this important cultural heritage site. The planned improvements aim to enhance the park’s facilities and attract more visitors interested in the history of the Vučedol civilization.

On October 21st, a working meeting convened with key stakeholders, including Mirela Hutinec, director of the Vučedol Culture Museum, state secretary Dražena Vrselja representing the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia, and Mayor Ivan Penava of the City of Vukovar. The meeting brought together project partners and construction experts to discuss the project’s progress and outline the upcoming phases.

The Vučedol Culture Museum is the project holder, collaborating with the Ministry of Culture and Media, the City of Vukovar, and the Tourist Board of the City of Vukovar. The total project budget amounts to EUR 11,244,254.55, with an estimated construction timeline of 17 months.

Key components of the project include the reconstruction of the ancient Vučedol settlement and the iconic Vučedol Megaron at the Gradac location. Additional plans encompass the construction of a restaurant, a planetarium, a Vučedol farm, a museum square, supporting infrastructure, a parking lot, and a communal wharf, along with extensive landscaping. The existing Museum building will serve as the central hub of the future park.

Importantly, 66% of the project funding is provided by the European Fund for Regional Development, underscoring the significant investment in cultural heritage and tourism in the region.

Vučedol Culture Museum and Vučedol Archaeological Site – source of European civilization was awarded the European Heritage Label in 2021.
