The City of Troyes has recently published a new heritage brochure entitled In the Footsteps of Rashi of Troyes, published as part of the “Focus” collection under the “Villes et Pays d’Art et d’Histoire” label. Produced in partnership with PIC Rashi, this publication forms part of an initiative to promote and bring heritage to life for the general public in France and across Europe.

This 12-page booklet offers a stroll through the historic centre of Troyes, inviting readers to follow in the footsteps of the medieval Jewish community and discover its place in the city’s history. It also highlights the major figure of Rashi of Troyes, whose work and intellectual influence left a profound mark on the history of medieval Judaism. The brochure combines a historical approach, urban landmarks and cultural outreach. It thus provides an accessible introduction to Troyes’ heritage, whilst offering insights into daily life, community dynamics and Rashi’s legacy in European history. Through this publication, the City of Troyes continues its commitment to the transmission and promotion of its heritage, offering a discovery tool that is both educational and accessible to a wide audience English and German versions to follow.
