ENCATC Launches Book on the Role of European Networks in Cultural Governance
ENCATC has announced the publication of European Networks and Cultural Governance: How Culture Makes Policy, a new addition to its Book Series. Written by Carlotta Sciolodo, recipient of the 2023 ENCATC Research Award, the book examines the impact of European networks on cultural governance within the EU.
The book traces the evolution of these networks over the past three decades, from informal collaborations to structured organisations that influence policymaking and drive cross-border cooperation. Using case studies, it outlines how EU-funded networks shape creative practices, contribute to policy debates, and encourage new ways of thinking about cultural governance.
Sciolodo combines institutional and ethnographic research to present these networks as critical actors in balancing economic, social, cultural, and environmental priorities. The book challenges traditional views of EU cultural policy, positioning networks as key players in fostering both symbolic and structural integration across Europe.
Pre-sales for European Networks and Cultural Governance began on 5 November 2024.
