European Music Trails Connected: Network Meeting in Leipzig – November 6th, 2024

On November 6th, 2024, Notenspur Leipzig e.V. is organizing a network meeting in Leipzig as part of its European Music Trails project.

On November 6th, 2024, Notenspur Leipzig e.V. is organizing a network meeting in Leipzig as part of its European Music Trails project. The event aims to bring together cultural professionals and organizations interested in European collaboration. The focus will be on exploring funding opportunities, sharing experiences, and building connections for future cross-border cultural projects.

Strengthening European Connections Through Culture

The network meeting comes at a time when cultural collaborations across Europe are more important than ever, especially given the rise of nationalist tendencies in many countries. The event seeks to encourage participants from Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt, Thuringia, and beyond to think beyond regional boundaries and look at how European partnerships can enrich their cultural projects.

Leipzig, with its deep musical heritage, serves as an ideal backdrop. The city has long been a hub for composers and musicians from across Europe. Nine musical heritage Sites were awarded the European Heritage Label in 2018 together with the Leipzig Music Trail (Notenspur Leipzig) as a connecting element and the ‘European Music Trails’ as an ongoing project.

Since then, the European Music Trails project has continued to highlight Leipzig’s role in the broader European music scene. It has also received significant support, including funding from the European Commission’s Creative Europe programme.

Event Highlights

The day will start with presentations from key figures in European cultural cooperation:

  • Dr. Uwe Koch, President of Europa Nostra Germany

  • Sergei Bazarya, Project Manager of the European Heritage Days, Council of Europe

  • Sophia Hodge, Creative Europe Help Desk Germany

They will share insights into European funding mechanisms and how cultural projects can tap into resources and platforms for greater visibility and impact.

In the afternoon, participants can choose from a range of sessions. These include workshops on different European programmes and opportunities for more in-depth discussions with the morning’s speakers. The goal is to provide practical advice and help attendees find the right paths for their cultural projects, whether they are just starting or seeking to expand.

Who Should Attend?

The event is open to anyone interested in European cultural projects—whether they are already involved in organizing cross-border initiatives or just curious about how to get started. Topics will cover potential funding opportunities and best practices for collaboration across Europe. Participants will have plenty of chances to network throughout the day, including a relaxed get-together in the evening.

The registration fee is €20, and participation is limited. The deadline to register is September 30th, 2024.
