Organized by European Urban Initiative
First edition of EUI Policy Lab – Leveraging Culture and Cultural Heritage for positive urban change
The intersection of culture and urban development has become a key focus in sustainable city planning. Recognizing the importance of cultural heritage in shaping resilient cities, the European Urban Initiative (EUI) is hosting its first Policy Lab on September 26-27 in Chalandri, Greece. This event will explore how culture and heritage can drive social cohesion, environmental sustainability, and economic growth in European cities.
What to Expect at the Policy Lab
A Policy Lab is a two-day event bringing together urban authorities, practitioners, and policymakers from across the EU. It aims to highlight evidence-based solutions and best practices for using culture and heritage to drive positive urban change. Building on EU-supported initiatives like the Urban Agenda for the EU, Urban Innovative Actions, and URBACT networks, the Lab will demonstrate how integrated approaches can tackle urban challenges such as tourism, employment, climate adaptation, and cultural restoration.
Key Highlights
- Day 1 (September 26): The day kicks off with an opening session featuring Chalandri’s political representatives and a keynote from the European Commission. Participants will engage in workshops, and site visits, including the CULTURAL H.ID.RA.N.T. project, and end with a networking evening.
- Day 2 (September 27): The focus will be on interactive workshops tackling culture and heritage issues in urban settings. The event will wrap up with a plenary session summarizing key findings and discussions.
