The International Youth Day

International Youth Day, celebrated each year on 12 August at the initiative of the United Nations, aims to strengthen young people’s civic participation, encourage their social engagement, and provide a platform for them to express their views on issues that shape their lives.

The celebration in Lublin was open to everyone free of charge and became a lively showcase of the creativity, energy, and vision of the city’s youth.

International Youth Day in Lublin

On 12 August, Litewski Square came alive with a special programme to mark International Youth Day. From 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., young residents of Lublin gathered in the green area to relax, connect, and explore opportunities for the future.

The event created a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere, with plenty of activities to enjoy:

  • Chill Zone – hammocks, deckchairs, blankets, and positive energy provided the perfect space to relax and simply be yourself.
  • Inspiration Club – experts from the Youth Information and Development Centre, Eurodesk Lublin, and Europe Direct Lublin WySPA led conversations about volunteering, mobility, and European opportunities available to young people.
  • Lublin Youth Spaces – a stand presented the city’s network of eight youth spaces for people aged 10–30, highlighting local projects and encouraging young residents to co-create future municipal initiatives.
  • Krótka Street Zone and Hej! Youth Space – creative activities, exhibitions, a memory game with prizes, an interactive survey, and even the chance to take a family photo.
  • Prusa2 Youth Space – a hub for integration and shared board games.
  • Points of Support – informal talks where young people could share their needs, ideas, and hopes for the future of Lublin.

The event combined leisure and inspiration – from hammocks and games to meaningful conversations about youth engagement and civic life.
