After an extensive renovation, the Museo Ostiense has reopened to the public, offering a completely revitalized experience in terms of its routes, themes, and layout. The museum, located within the Archaeological Park of Ostia Antica, now provides a fresh perspective on the lives of the people who once inhabited ancient Ostia, showcasing the most representative works of art, sculpture, and painting unearthed from the excavations of the Roman city.

The grand reopening took place on July 11th, marked by a ceremony attended by the Italian Minister of Culture along with other prominent public and civil authorities. The event drew a large audience, reflecting significant public interest, and garnered attention from major newspapers and digital media outlets.

The revamped Museo Ostiense promises to enrich visitors’ understanding of the rich history of ancient Ostia, offering a deeper connection to the past through its carefully curated exhibits and modernized presentation.

The Archaeological Area of Ostia Antica was awarded the European Heritage Label in 2019.
