New Website for the European Heritage Label in the Netherlands

DutchCulture has announced the launch of europeanheritagelabel.eu, a new website dedicated to showcasing Dutch Sites honored with the prestigious European Heritage Label (EHL).

DutchCulture has announced the launch of europeanheritagelabel.eu, a new website dedicated to showcasing Dutch Sites honored with the prestigious European Heritage Label (EHL). This platform is designed to provide a comprehensive resource for visitors interested in exploring the cultural significance of five iconic Dutch locations: Kamp Westerbork, Peace Palace, Maastricht Treaty, Colonies of Benevolence, and Our Lord in the Attic Museum.

The European Heritage Label recognizes and rewards Sites of symbolic significance to European history, culture, or integration. As such, each of the Dutch Sites has been selected for their contributions to Europe’s collective identity and historical narrative.

At europeanheritagelabel.eu, visitors can access detailed information about the label itself, including its criteria and importance within the European cultural landscape. The website features engaging narratives that explore the unique histories and cultural contexts of the honored Dutch Sites, providing insights into their impact and relevance.

In addition to articles and visual content, europeanheritagelabel.eu offers the podcast “Europa om je heen” (available in Dutch), further exploring these Sites’ stories and significance. The platform is accessible in both English and Dutch, catering to a broad audience, particularly targeting young adults aged 18-30 with an interest in European cultural heritage.

This initiative is a collaboration led by DutchCulture, supported by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science and the Cultural Heritage Agency in the Netherlands. It complements existing resources on DutchCulture’s website, offering guidance for heritage sites aspiring to attain the European Heritage Label and showcasing the richness of Dutch cultural heritage on a European stage.
