The Pan – a revue about the melting pot of Oderbruch as reflected in the people who worked there
Oderbruch seems remote – wide fields, water, few villages. So it’s surprising to see who has worked here! Our revue is a whirlwind tour through almost 300 years of Oderbruch history, showing that not only large cities but also rural areas can become melting pots of cultures. It brings together personalities from all over Germany, Europe and the world, such as the Prussian King Frederick II (the ‘Old Fritz’), the Swiss mathematician Leonhard Euler, the writer Theodor Fontane, the agricultural reformers Frauen von Friedland and Albrecht Daniel Thaer, but also the psychiatrist and writer Hans Keilsohn, the Dutch farmer Willem Arie van Spronsen and the Japanese doctor Nobutsugu Koyenuma. It touches on artists and musicians from the Oderbruch region such as Erika Stürmer-Alex, Wolfram Bodag, Tobias Morgenstern and many others. Who belongs in the museum, whose stories should not be forgotten, what is controversial but relevant?
With musical accompaniment by Sebastian Blache, authors and museum curators Kenneth Anders and Lars Fischer engage in a lively debate about prominent figures in the Oderbruch region, featuring songs, poems and an illustrious stage design by Antje Scholz, which at the end of the performance becomes an exhibition about the Oderbruch melting pot. The premiere took place on Friday, 31 October in the Altranft church, followed by a second performance on Saturday, 1 November. Further performances are planned for various cultural heritage sites in the Oderbruch region in the future.
