Young creators lead the EHL Call for Projects’24-Awarded Audio Guide Project

The project “Young Voices, Ancient Wisdom – creation and implementation of youth-led interactive storytelling guide in an archaeological site”, an awarded initiative under the EHL Call for Projects 2024, brings together theThracian Art in Eastern Rhodopes: Aleksandrovo Tomb (Bulgaria) and the Vučedol Culture Museum and Archaeological Site (Croatia) in a unique cross-border collaboration. Their mission? To revolutionise storytelling in archaeological sites—by letting young people design the narrative.
The project is currently developing a new audio guide created by youth, for youth, reshaping how ancient stories are told. Gone are the traditional, didactic tones. Instead, through focus groups and an online survey of over 300 young people, the project collected preferences for dramatic, immersive, and emotionally resonant storytelling—with shorter segments, dynamic pacing, and soundscapes that spark curiosity.
Two creative workshops—one in each country—brought together local youth and cultural professionals to co-create every element: the script, tone, rhythm, and even background sounds. The result will be a youth-designed audio guide, to be released this September in three European languages, showcasing ancient wisdom with a voice that speaks to new generations.
Beyond innovation, the project fostered European dialogue and connection, revealing shared cultural values and mutual understanding. For the young participants, it was a chance to shape how the past is preserved, and how it reaches their peers—proving that young voices have a powerful role in safeguarding Europe’s heritage.
